REGAN Secretary MICHAEL SCOTT Director Sent Via USPS and email Ms. Kathy Blake, Senior Planner Town of Aberdeen 115 North Poplar Street Aberdeen, NC 28315 kblakegtownofaberdeen.net NORTH CAROLINA Environmental Quality January 2, 2019 Subject: Brownfields Site Status Letter Aberdeen Tire Site 201 South Pinehurst Street Aberdeen, Moore County 28315 Brownfields Project No. 20002-16-063 Dear Ms. Blake: Thank you for the Town of Aberdeen's initial interest in the North Carolina Brownfields Program for the above -referenced Brownfields Property. Based on our discussion in late November 2018 and your follow- up email of January 2, 2019, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has changed the status of the referenced Brownfields Property from "Active Eligible" to "No Further Interest" (NFI). We understand that the Town of Aberdeen, which applied to the program in January 2016, has not ever owned the candidate brownfields property and does not plan on taking title to the property. We also understand that the property was sold and is being used for a tire business similar to its historic use; therefore, no redevelopment is planned at this time and the Town of Aberdeen is no longer interested in pursuing a brownfields agreement for this property.
