This report describes activities which occurred during the month of August as part of the Remedial Design and Remedial Action phase of this project. PROJECT TASKS INITIATED OR COMPLETED THROUGH AUGUST 1996: • Quarterly sampling of the twelve monitor wells and remediation systems • Continue O & M of systems . RESULTS OF SAMPLING AND TESTING AND OTHER DATA RECEIVED: • Laboratory results forAugust sampling of the remediation systems is included in this progress report. Tables I to 4 record the analytical results for the four groundwater treatment systems. All effluent concentrations are below the Remediation Performance Standard except for manganese at Upper Macon Source Area with a concentration of 110 µg/L. • Table 5 records the analytical results for the 12 monitor wells. • Table 6 records the air quality sampling. All systems for August were non-detect • Table 7 records all groundwater elevations taken since system start up. All planned monitor wells and recovery wells were gauged. 6525 The Corners Parkway, Suite 400 • Norcross, Georgia 30092 • Tel: (770) 448-491 I • Fax: (770) 409-7893 I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I • • Upper Dockery flow meter reading for August totaled 218,330 gallons. System was operational 97% of the time averaging 5.4 GPM. Mass VOC removal was 0.52 pounds for the month and the cumulative is 1.97 pounds. Lower Dockery flow meter reading for August totaled 126,232 gallons. System was operational 100% of the time averaging 3.1 GPM. Mass VOC removal was 0.18 pounds for the month and the cumulative is 1.53 pounds. • Macon Source Area flow meter reading for August totaled 207,503_ gallons. System was operational I 00% of the time averaging 5.2 GPM. Mass VOC removal was 0.11 pounds for the month and the cumulative is,Q.71 pounds. • Upper/Lower Macon flow meter reading for August totaled 638,400 gallons. Combined system was operational 75%ofthe time averaging 15.9 GPM. Mass VOC removal was 0.16 pounds for the month and the cumulative is 0. 70 pounds. TASKS PLANNED FOR SEPTEMBER 1996: • Monthly sampling of the remediation systems effluent • Continue O &M of systems PROBLEMS AND DELAYS: • • • • August 12 & 14 -SVE alarm went off. Found high water level in the moisture separator. Drained the separator and system operating normally. August 15 -Lower Macon alarm went off. Magnetrol level probe failure. On August 29, the probe was operating correctly. If another malfunction occurs, a replacement probe will be installed. August 29 -Upper Dockery alarm went off. Found high water level in the stripper sump . Drained the sump and the system is now operating normally. The Lower Macon system had more down time than the other systems because of the probe .
