We are pleased to report that the 4 and 5 discharge points fell within the limits prescribed for solids, upon retesting. We look forward to the completion of the salt dome adjacent to our facility. That construction has dragged a lot of mud and dirt our way and we feel it had a negative impact on our Fall sampling. Fortunately, they have completed construction (except for asphalt paving). This should remove any need to take sampling outside of our routine requirements. We thank you in advance for your continued support. We are committed to minimizing contaminates in our facility's storm water runoff. In our business oil/greases is our culprit; however our BPM's have kept our discharge levels below the limits. If only construction mud would go away. D The sample was analyzed at dilution. 3 The reported value is between the laboratory method detection limit (MDL) and the laboratory method reporting limit (MRL), adjusted for actual sample preparation data and moisture content, where applicable. E The concentration indicated for this analyte is an estimated value above the calibration range of the instrument. This value is considered an estimate. MRL Method Reporting Limit. The MRL is roughly equivalent to the practical quantitation limit (PQL) and is based on the low point of the calibration curve, when applicable, sample preparation factor, dilution factor, and, in the case of soil samples, moisture content. QR-04 Duplicate precision outside acceptance limits due to low analyte concentration. We are pleased to report that the oil/grease levels are well within the prescribed guidelines along with pH levels. We feel that we have in place BMP's that minimized unwanted discharge. However, two discharge points were above the criteria for suspended solids. We feel that much of this comes from the spring pollens, related to the trees and grasses associated with this site. We had similar results last spring. Since the oil and grease levels were low and pH levels were well within tolerance, we don't have reason for alarm. Our expectation is that the fall results will show similar readings to that of last year (all suspended solids levels were within tolerance for the fall sampling). We have implemented our new pH log and have updated the calibration process to meet the new standards. We thank you in advance for your continued support. We are committed to minimizing contaminates in our facility's storm water runoff. c rely, -4 Kent Cash Director of Fleet Management City of Durham 1900 Camden Avenue Durham NC 27704 CC: Mack K Wiggins, Jr. Environmental Specialist, 1628 Mail Service Center Raleigh NC 27699-1628 Division of Water Quality STORAIWATER DISCHAI 1:0 ' UTFALL (SDO) MONITORINGRE'PORT GENERAL PERAIIT NO. We are pleased to report that the oil/grease levels are well within the prescribed guidelines. We feel that we have in place BMP's that minimized unwanted discharge. We feel the extended drought period of last year directly impacted our findings from last year's fall sampling. I would like consideration in removing discharge # 8 from requiring analytical sampling. That particular discharge point is in a parking lot that is not related to the maintenance shop, refueling site or any industrial activity. This lot is only used for visitor parking and a delivery point to park new vehicles awaiting entry into service. It is protected from the maintenance facility by curb and gutter, which surrounds the lot associated with the shop. I spoke with Robert Patterson from your office and he concurs with this omission. He told me that the regional office now handles these requests; therefore I'm copying Mr. Mack Wiggins on this letter and have a call into his office. We thank you in advance for your consideration in this matter. We are committed to minimizing contaminates in our facility's storm water runoff.
