Re:  Southern Current Flowers Solar Farm‐Erosion Control Narrative 

The proposed solar site is located in Harnett County, North Carolina west of Benson, east of NCSR 1551 
(Baileys Crossroads Road) and north of the intersection of NCSR 1551 (Baileys Crossroads Road) and NC 
Highway 50 (West main Street).  The site is currently an open field used for agriculture.  There are no 
isolated wetlands or jurisdictional streams present within the construction  area,  but  there  are 
jurisdictional streams and wetlands on the property. There will be no proposed impact to the streams or 
wetlands.  The site generally drains to the east.    

The amount of disturbed acreage permitted for the project site is approximately 26 acres. Clearing and 
grubbing activities are proposed for this site.  The actual disturbed area will be much less and limited to 
the areas required to install the solar panel posts in the ground by mechanical methods, installation of 
the panels on the posts, and trenching to install electrical conduit. Access to the internal portions of the 
site will be around the perimeter of the site and through temporary access drives. If any rutting or land 
disturbance occurs on these access drives, it will be stabilized. It is proposed that the site will have a 
temporary rock construction entrance and perimeter silt fencing with silt fence outlets placed at the low 
points for possible discharges. No drainage patterns are being changed with this project.  The disturbed 
area will be limited to the areas shown on the approved erosion control plan during the construction 
process.  

The site is classified as low density, with only 3.82% built upon area. Water on the site shall run as sheet 
flow towards Baileys Crossroads Road with no increase of flow to the road side ditch and sheet flow east 
towards the existing forested area.
