Mr Roney, ECS Carolinas, LLP (ECS) recently conducted an infiltration evaluation for the proposed infiltration area for the site located at 4578 Long Beach Road in Wilmington, North Carolina I his letter, with attachments, is the report of our evaluation Field Testing On April 13, 2007 ECS conducted an exploration of the subsurface soil and ground water conditions at three requested locations shown on the attached Site Diagram The purpose of this exploration was to obtain subsurface information of the suitability of the in -place soils for the proposed infiltration area We explored the subsurface soil and ground water conditions by advancing one hand auger boring into the existing ground surface at the three requested boring locations We visually classified the subsurface soils and obtained representative samples of each soil type encountered We also recorded the ground water level observed at the time of each hand auger boring The attached Infiltration Evaluation Forni provides a summary of the subsurface conditions encountered at each hand auger boring location The ground water level and the seasonal high ground water level (SHWL) were estimated at each bonng location below the existing grade elevation Below is a summary of each boring location Boring Location Water Level SHWL B-1 40 inches 30 inches B-2 36 inches 26 inches B-3 39 inches 30 inches We have conducted three infiltration tests near our hand auger boring to estimate the Infiltration rate for the subsurface soils The infiltration tests are typically conducted at two feet above the SHWL 7211 Ogden Busmess
