SECTION I - EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
1 I PROJECT DESCRIPTION
7 his report addresses expected erosion and sediment control and storm water management
for the proposed development of McDonald's in Leland, North Carolina The property is
located along US Highway 17 approximateh 1 2 miles southwest of the US Highway 17 and
US Highway 74 interchange I he site total acreage is 1 31 acres The proposed development
will consist of a single -story 4,489 square foot building with curb islands and associated
parking The proposed development will result in 40,460 sf of built upon area,
approximately 70% impervious
1 2 EXISTING SITE CONDITIONS
The lot is currcndi vacant and consists of a predommandy sandy ground cover fhe lot
appears to have bcen mass graded with the overall development Runoff from the site
spreads equallv to the northwest and southeast corners
1 3 ADJACENT AREAS
The northern portion of the site fronts onto NC Highway 17 Commercial development
borders the site, to the east and west New Pointe Boulevard provides acctss to the site to
the south
1 4 CRITICAL EROSION AREAS
The most critical erosion area will be the surface of the working area during construction
operltions If grass is not established on dormant denuded areas then there is a significant
potential for the covered areas to be eroded and for sediment to be earned in the runoff To
rmnimvc the potcnual for erosion, covered areas that are temporarily inactive will be seeded
within 14 working dal s after placement of the soil cover
15 EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES
All vegetative practices and erosion and sediment control features shall be designed,
constructed and maintained in accordance with the North Carolina I rosion and Sediment
Control Planning Standards and Specificauons I he features art designed to control runoff
resulting from the 10-year frequency storm Plan -view drawings with dcriils are provided
1 5 1 S I ABI1 ]ZED CONS IRUCI-ION ENTRANCE/EXI I
(REFERENCE NCESCPDM STD & SPEC 6 06)
Stabili/ed construction entrances should be used at all points where traffic will be leaving a
construction site and moving dnrecth onto a public road Wash down facilities may be
required as dircctcd bN your local approving agency Construction entrincts should be used

in conjunction with the stabilvation of construction roads to reduce. the amount of mud
' picked up by vehicles
1 5 2 SILT FENCE -
(REFERENCE NCESCPDM STD & SPEC 6 62)
Sediment fences will be provided downgradicnt of the proposed site grading at the locations
shown on the drawings The sediment fences will direct flow to either a sediment dcposmon
area behind the fence or to a sediment trap Silt fences are not to be used across channels or
in areas of concentrated flows
' 1 5 3 BLOCK AND GRAVLh INLET PRO I F_C 1 ION
(RFFI-RLNCE NCESCPDM S17D & SPEC 6 52)
Block and gris el inlet protection will be utili7ed on this site 1 he inlet protections are
utilized to help prevent sediment from entering the storm drains bcforc stabdi7ing the.
contnbuting watershed This practice allows earh use of the storm dram system
16 VEGETATIVE STABILIZATION
Vegetative cover shall be re-established within 15 working days or 30 calendar divs after
completion of the activity, whichever period is shorter Refer to plans for temporary and
' permanent seeding schedule and specifications
17 TEMPORARY STABILIZATION
Disturbed areas will be vegetated in accordance with section 3 0 of the North Carohn i
' Erosion and Sedimentation Control Design Manual and the seeding specifications
I emporary control features will remain in place and will be maintained until the up -gradient
disturbed area has been stabilized with vegetative cover
18 MAINTENANCE
' All erosion and sediment control measures will be checked for stability and operation
following even runoff -producing rainfall but in no case less than once every week Any
needed repairs will be made immediately to muntam all measures as designed
Sediment fences shall be inspected at least once a wcck and after each rainfall event Repairs
shall be made immediately Sedumcnt deposits shall be removed as needed to provide.
adequttc storage volume for the next rainfill event, and to r duce pressure on the fe.nee
I encmg materials and sediment deposits shall be removed, and the, area brought to grade.
