The North Carolina Department of Transportation is performing the work under a maintenance agreement with our division. The project involves resurfacing a 3,000 linear foot, 10-foot-wide service road to the bathhouse. A small waiting area and turnaround area adjacent to the ferry dock area is part of this project (see attached site maps). The paved area is approximately 250 square yards at the ferry dock. There is a 1 percent grade on the parking area. All runoff is diverted away from the basin area. The service road was resurfaced approximately 25 years ago with a sand asphalt mixture. The area will be resurfaced with a 1-inch mat and seal coat of asphalt and brown river rock. The total paving surface area is less than an acre. The paving project is part of an amendment to CAMA Permit #16-94. As discussed by our phone conversation on May 16, 1994, the Division of Parks and Recreation would like a quick review of this project since the area is less than an acre and the paving is scheduled to be paved by May 25, 1994.
