Design Summary, Page 2 of 2 First United Methodist Church F,,, Building Addition Washinb on, North Carolina NOV 1 9 2009 Storm Water Management Plan - Revised LOCATION: This site is located on the comer of Van Norden Street and NC HWY 32, 3`d Street, in down town Washington, Beaufort County, North Carolina. The site is currently an open grass field. DESCRIPTION: This site is currently an open maintained grass lot. The development is going to disturb approximately 1.7 acres. EXISTING DRAINAGE PATTERNS: Surface runoff flows from the property into existing drop inlets located along 3rd Street and into the City of Washington's storm drainage system. This water will ultimately drain into the Pamlico River. The work that is to be preformed will not change the existing drainage pattern. There are no riparian buffers on this project area. PROPOSED PROJECT: This project will consist of stripping the site and grading the existing lot for construction of the building facility and additional parking. All drainage shall continue in the same manner as was before construction. Storm Water Management Runoff from the site shall be treated through grass swales and a dry detention pond. It has been determined by the soils report the seasonal high water table is approximately six feet below the existing ground. With this information we were able to provide the required 2' separation between the bottom of the dry pond and the SHWT. The ponds volume has been designed to treat the 1.5" rainfall and draw this runoff down over 2-5 days. The additional runoff which is to be detained shall be stored in the parking lot as well as the dry pond. The system has been designed to allow only the pre development discharge to leave the site during the rain storm event. Attached are the calculations giving the exact figures for all the volumes. r— a The outlet structure has been designed with a weir wall to allow storms of a larger size to bypass the system and drain directly into the storm drainage system. The smaller storm event is controlled by an orifice in the weir wall which is designed to allow the pre discharge flow from the 1 yr 24 hour storm. Eneineers Certification I, Marie U. Permit Number: (lo be provided by DWOJ Drainage Area Number. Basin Operation and Maintenance Agreement I will keep a maintenance record on this BMP. This maintenance record will be kept in a log in a known set location. Any deficient BMP elements noted in the inspection will be corrected, repaired orlreplaced immediately. These deficiencies can affect the integrity of structures, safety of the public, and the removal efficiency of the BMP- Important maintenance procedures: — The drainage area will be carefully managed to reduce the sediment load to the infiltration basin — Immediately after the infiltration basin is established, the vegetation will be watered twice weekly if needed until the plants become established (commonly six weeks). — No portion of the infiltration basin will be fertilized after the initial fertilization that is required to establish the vegetation. The vegetation in and around the basin will be maintained at a height of approximately six inches. After the infiltration basin is established, it will be inspected once a quarter and within 24 hours after every storm event greater than 1.0 inches (or 1-5inches if in a Coastal County). Records of operation and maintenance will be kept in a known set location and will be available upon request. Inspection activities shall be repaired immediately.
