Add weed free Grade A compost mix to topsoil to develop a minimum organic content of 5-10%. Prepared topsoil should have a pH between 5.5 and 7.0. 3. Loosen the subgrade immediately prior to spreading topsoil by disking or scarifying to a depth of at least 2 inches. 4. Spread topsoil to a depth of 2 to 4 inches and cultipack. 5. At the end of the first year and again at the end of the two-year warranty period, all plants that do not survive must be replaced. No trees or shrubs should be planted within 10 feet of inlet or outlet pipes, or near manmade structures such as emergency spillways or spreader swales. The deep water zone at the outlet is not planted to prevent clogging of the outlet structure. Fall and winter are optimal for planting in North Carolina, with a few exceptions. Shallow water plants should be installed between April 1 and July 15. Winter planting is difficult with shallow water plants. The wet pond has three separate distinct landscaping areas. They are the deep pool - the open water and permanent pool area with water depth 18" to 36"; shallow water/shallow land - the 10' vegetated shelf and side slopes of the pond up to the temporary treatment pool water level; and the upland area - side slopes of pond and banks above the maximum design pond high water level. The following are rates and kinds of plants to be planted in each of the two wet pond landscaping areas. The plants are to be installed at the rates recommended by the supplier. All plants are from Table 9-1 Wetland Plant Recommendations, of the NCDENR Stormwater BMP Manual. Add weed free Grade A compost mix to topsoil to develop a minimum organic content of 5-10%. Prepared topsoil should have a pH between 5.5 and 7.0. 3. Loosen the subgrade immediately prior to spreading topsoil by disking or scarifying to a depth of at least 2 inches. 4. Spread topsoil to a depth of 2 to 4 inches and cultipack. 5. Disk or harrow and rake to produce a uniform and well -pulverized surface. 6. Loosen surface just prior to applying seed. 7. Plant/seed and mulch immediately after amending the soil to stabilize the site as soon as possible. 8. Water newly planted areas as required to ensure establishment of new vegetation. 9. Plants and/or seeds are to be planted at the rates specified by the suppliers. 10. There shall be a minimum two-year warranty period for plant survival/replacement. 11. At the end of the first year and again at the end of the two-year warranty period, all plants that do not survive must be replaced. No trees or shrubs should be planted within 10 feet of inlet or outlet pipes, or near manmade structures such as emergency spillways or spreader swales. The deep water zone at the outlet is not planted to prevent clogging of the outlet structure. Fall and winter are optimal for planting in North Carolina, with a few exceptions. Shallow water plants should be installed between April 1 and July 15. Winter planting is difficult with shallow water plants. The wet pond has three separate distinct landscaping areas. They are the deep pool - the open water and permanent pool area with water depth 18" to 36"; shallow water/shallow land - the 10' vegetated shelf and side slopes of the pond up to the temporary treatment pool water level; and the upland area - side slopes of pond and banks above the maximum design pond high water level. The following are rates and kinds of plants to be planted in each of the two wet pond landscaping areas. The plants are to be installed at the rates recommende by the supplier. All plants are from Table 9-1 Wetland Plant Recommendations, of the NCDENR Stormwater BMP Manual.
