Dear Sirs,
As discussed over the phone, our plant experienced a leak in a chilled 50% ethylene glycol pipe on February 27, 2020.
The pipe was directly over our secondary containment area. The majority of the leak was contained within the
secondary containment (approximately 75%), but some sprayed outside the containment wall (approximately 25%). A
portion of the material flowed outside our fence, but still remained on our property in the soil.
On February 28th, prior to the next rain fall, we had Clean Harbors remediate the all the contaminated soil into nine 55-
gallon drums. We estimate that 100 gallons of 50% ethylene glycol was in the soil. None of the material made it to any
water ways.
We will append the documentation from this incident and the root cause analysis to our existing Stormwater Pollution
Prevention Plan.
