Vulcan obtained a result of 14.9 NTU's for a recent quarterly mine dewatering sample at our outfall 001. Also, Vulcan obtained results of 11.6 mg/l for a recent stone water semi-annual samples at our outfalls 003 and 005. As Specified in Section D of the NPDES General Permit we are giving notice. During a recent on -site inspection of the outfalls, all appeared to be in good working order. Vulcan will be adding additional washed filter stone around the spillway outlets to improve future water sampling results. Enclosed you will find two signed copies of the DMR, and the lab results for your files. We will continue as required of the permit in Section D to perform quarterly monitoring until we receive four consecutive quarterly samples arc obtained below the limit for all parameters. Vulcan exceeded a limitation for a recent third quarterly sample at our outfall 001. As Specified in Section D of the NPDES General Permit we are giving notice. We have determined that do to the slurry pipe had become disconnected in the pit and short- circuited the settling time of the water to the discharge point and the specific gravity of the material we are mining is lighter were contributing factors for this water results of 0.9 more than 10 NTU's. Historically turbidity results show less than 5 NTU's. Additional sample was grabbed and has been analyzed; the turbidity results show less than 10 NTU's.
