Bragg SOTF Multipurpose Training Facility - Seasonal High Water Table Evaluation Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. provided a seasonal high water table (SHWT) evaluation for two proposed stormwater management infiltration basins at the Fort Bragg SOTF Multipurpose Training Facility project. Fieldwork was completed on November 7, 2019 by Amber Coleman, LSS, PWS. The project area is located within the Sandhills ecoregion in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Soils mapped by USDA-NRCS in the project area include Wagram loamy sand. Wagram is a well drained soil on broad, smooth flats and side slopes of uplands (USDA-NRCS 1984 Soil Survey of Cumberland and Hoke Counties North Carolina). The soil map unit is within hydrologic soil group A which consist of deep, well drained to excessively drained sands and have a high rate of water transmission. (USDA-NRCS Web Soil Survey - Cumberland County, NC, Version 19, September 2018). Site vegetation predominantly consisted of longleaf pine, loblolly pine, turkey oak and wiregrass. The SHWT elevation was determined using soil profile evaluations observed by hand auger. Three test locations were completed, Site 1 was within stormwater management infiltration basin #1 (SWM #1) and Sites 2-1 and 2-2 were within SWM #2. Site 2-2 includes depth to seasonal high water table features only. Table 1.
