These inspections were to verify that the mine sites are operating in compliance with the requirements specified in the NPDES General Permit NCG020000. The findings and comments noted during these inspections are provided in the enclosed copies of the inspection reports entitled "Compliance Inspection Report". In general, the sites appeared to be well kept. Good housekeeping and best management practices outlined in the Mine Permits appear to be implemented by personnel on site. It appears the appropriate qualitative and quantitative data are monitored and collected as specified in the NPDES permit. The Division appreciates the cooperation extended by the mine site managers as well as yourself. A complete and thorough inspection was conducted and their knowledge of the operations proved very helpful during the inspection process. The reports were very well organized and data retention was in compliance with permit requirements. NCG020O10 STORMWATER AND PROCESS WASTEWATER DISCHARGES NATIONAL POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM In compliance with the provision of North Carolina General Statute 143-215.1, other lawful standards and regulations promulgated and adopted by the North Carolina Environmental Management Commission, and the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, as amended, Martin Marietta Materials Inc is hereby authorized to discharge stormwater and to operate treatment systems and discharges associated with mine dewatering wastewater and process wastewater from a facility located at Martin Marietta -Castle Hayne County Rd 1002 Off US 117 Castle Hayne New Hanover County to receiving waters designated as the Cape Fear River, in the Cape Fear River Basin in accordance with the effluent limitations, monitoring requirements, and other conditions set forth in Parts I, II, III, IV, V, and VI of General Permit No. NCG020000 as attached. This certificate of coverage shall become effective February 7, 2005. This Certificate of Coverage shall remain in effect for the duration of the General Permit.
