CES estimates that depth to shallow groundwater is within 30-feet of the ground surface. Considering the surface topography for the Site, as interpreted from the USGS topographic Skyland, North Carolina quadrangle map, local groundwater is expected to follow topography and flow to the southeast away from the Site. Factors such as underground structures, seasonal fluctuations, soil and bedrock geology, production wells, and other factors beyond the scope of this study often locally influence actual groundwater flow direction. The actual groundwater flow under the Site can only be accurately determined by performing a hydrogeologic study, which is beyond the scope of this project. Estimated groundwater levels and/or flow direction(s) may vary due to seasonal fluctuations in precipitation, local usage demands, geology, underground structures, or dewatering operations. 5.2.5 Other Physical Setting Sources Flood Plain Map According to information supplied by GeoPlus Physical Settings Maps from GeoSearch (GeoSearch 2019b) for the FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for the Site and surrounding areas (panel number 3700869400J dated May 18, 2018), the Site is located within FEMA Zone X, which is defined as follows: • Zone X - is described as areas outside the 1-percent annual chance floodplain, areas of 1% annual chance sheet flow flooding where average depths are less than 1 foot, areas of 1% annual chance stream flooding where the contributing drainage area is less than 1 square mile, or areas protected from the 1% annual chance flood by levees. A copy of the GeoPlus Physical Settings Maps is provided as Appendix J. Wetlands Map According to a review of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) National Wetlands Inventory (NWI) database (http://wetian sfws.er.usgs.gov/), there are no federally -designated wetlands located on the Site. A copy of the NWI map which includes wetlands is included in GeoPlus Physical Settings Maps (GeoSearch 2019b) in Appendix J. 5.3 HISTORICAL RECORDS SOURCES The following table summarizes the findings of the research presented below pertaining to historical property and surrounding area uses.
