I have some follow up information. Asheville Steam Plant's permit is up for renewal in 2021(expiration on April 30,
2021). We have spoken further our Director about renewing this permit a bit early to incorporate the modification and
expedite the renewal process, and he concurs with that recommendation.
We recommend that Duke Energy apply for renewal of NCS000575 along with this modification request. It would only
be some months ahead of the October/November 2020 timeframe that the renewal application is due.

Good to hear from you, Robert.
Coverage under the NCG120000 General Permit is not a likely option for this new CCR ash landfill. The Mayo Monofill
was originally permitted under an NCG12 with modified monitoring several years back but will ultimately be
incorporated into that individual permit at renewal.
We recommend requesting a modification to Asheville Plant's individual permit to include the new activity and
associated outfalls.

Hi Bethany,
Hope all is well with you.
At Asheville Steam Electric Station a permit to construct and operate a new CCR Ash landfill has been applied for with
DEQ Solid Waste. A storm water permit for construction activities will also be obtained. Prior to the ash placement
operation beginning I understand that another storm water permit is needed to be in place for the industrial activity.
For the industrial landfill stormwater permit is it an option to select either the general permit NCG120000 or to modify
the current site Industrial Storm Water permit NCS000575 to include the outfalls associated with this upcoming landfill
activity?
I plan to file by the first half of January and just want to understand if either option is acceptable.
